The Campbell County Public Library’s 3 branches will begin stocking video games for folks to check out in the next few months.

One branch will carry games for the 360, one branch for the Wii, and one for the PS3.

A spokesman for the library said they will be carrying family friendly titles and sports games.

I think this is a great thing for libraries to offer. Kids tastes change so quickly, and parents having to shell out 60 bucks for a game that kids will get bored with in 3 hours now have a great venue to get their children games without paying exorbitant rental fees, often as high as 8 bucks a week.

Some will complain that more “grown-up” titles (such as Gears of War or Grand Theft Auto) aren’t offered as well, but that argument doesn’t hold much water. Libraries also don’t carry Penthouse, stock erotica, or have much gangsta rap for checking out either.
